GRID + EXCURSION 2010
IHC Systems - Sliedrecht
IHC Merwede Shipyards - Kinderdijk
Friday 4 February 2011

GRID+ EXCURSION 2009

On Friday 13 November 2009 GRID+ has organized a visit to PRIVA in De Lier and Improvement Centre in Bleiswijk.

PRIVA is a key player in the field of automated climate and process control, in the Horticultural and Building Intelligence markets. Already for fifty years our objective is to create a healthy, comfortable, productive environment in any building or production process, in a sustainable and efficient manner, thus ensuring that an organization or business remains competitive in an ever-changing world. The best available solutions for every situation are the result of shared knowledge and expertise between the Agro Business (protected cropping) and Building Intelligence (commercial, public and industrial buildings) divisions. 25% of the total budget is spent on research. Many PRIVA control engineers have their education at the Delft University of Technology and are now involved in research (about 30 engineers).

Agro Business
PRIVA Agro Business is the global market leader in climate and process automation for horticulture. Using intelligent, dynamic systems, PRIVA guarantees optimum productivity and efficient process control. PRIVA supplies a wide range of products and services, from individual systems for the treatment of water and air, through to computer-controlled climate control and complete management information systems.

Building Intelligence
PRIVA Building Intelligence is a national and international specialist in climate and process automation for public and commercial buildings. Using intelligent, dynamic systems, a comfortable and healthy living and working environment and efficient building management is guaranteed. PRIVA systems are used in offices and hospitals, hotels and shops, schools and universities, at conference centres, sports halls and royal palaces. The systems contribute to the creation of an optimum level of comfort at the lowest possible expense and the greatest possible ease of use and maintenance. The hardware and software are developed in-house. The systems are universal and can always be augmented or extended, thus offering maximum flexibility.

The Improvement Centre is thé key practical centre for the most optimal cultivation processes. Research is done and experiments are performed, which are related to cultivation processes and techniques.
The greenhouse complex consists of 11 separate research departments - each with about 1.000 m2. It offers the possibility to test parts of the cultivation processes for horticulture under perfect conditions. This makes it possible to achieve an exact estimate in advance about the effect specific techniques; products and innovations will have on a larger scale in a production greenhouse. In this way, major risks are avoided.
Participants, who use the services of the Improvement Centre, are primarily technical producers of horticulture products, suppliers and parties who are active in (cultivation) technical experiments. The practical centre is also attractive to cultivation societies for vegetables and flowers, cultivation companies and large nurseries.

GRID Lustrum Feest
De ACHTERKANT van Burgers' Zoo

VRIJDAG 9 FEBRUARI 2001

GRID Party 1998
On Monday October 19 1998 the GRID board organized a party. With snacks and beverages the former-students of the Measurement and Control Laboratory have been able to meet and chat. The party was organised in the Technical Museum in Delft. This museum is positioned in three monumental halls, build around 1910 in front of the Technical Highschool Delft (now Delft University of Technology). The halls are declared monuments and are a sight on their own. There were a number of historical technical machines to be seen and even a few could even be operated. At six o’clock there was a reception with the possibility to view the museum. Around seven o’clock the buffet was started
An engineer form the Dutch Waterstaat presented a lecture about ‘Holland water country’.
On the program there was also an important change of the board. Because our chairman Ger Honderd gives the chairman’s hammer after his superannuation to his successor Eijkelenburg. The new chairman was somewhere else on the world and could not be present in Delft.
Ger as retiring chairman was addressed by the member of the board Leo de Keijzer who offered him some appropriate memories. Hans van Nauta Lemke addressed with his familiar manner the last words to Ger. After that all attention went to the dessert. With some effort the members and the board parted around 10 o’clock.
