Short Bio

I am currently an Assistant Professor at the Delft Center for Systems and Control. I am interested in nonlinear control problems for robotics, such as nonholonomic control, learning control, hybrid systems, max-plus algebras, discrete event systems, and many other topics.

I received a “Licenciatura” degree in Aerospace Engineering at Instituto Superior Tecnico, Universidade Tecnica de Lisboa, Portugal. I obtained an Msc and a PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Michigan. During that period I worked as a research assistant for the project “RHex Robot Hexapod”. Additionally, I was a visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania working in the Grasp lab.
